A message from our Pastor

Ongoing support in this difficult time

My Brothers and Sisters of Holy Cross Church,

Our Bishop Zarama was faced with a difficult decision in suppressing all Masses, both weekend and daily. He was not alone in this decision because all dioceses in the United States had to make the same decision to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus This cancellation of Masses, especially on weekends, provides a financial challenge for our parish. When such a situation prevents parishioners from attending weekend Masses our offertory collection suffers. This has a direct impact on the funds we have available each week to pay our bills and meet our payroll.

If you are in a financial situation to do so, please continue to support our parish by contributing what you would normally give in the offertory collection each week. You can mail this into the parish or begin using our Online Giving which we already have active in our parish. Online Giving can be setup to withdraw from your account on a monthly,. weekly, or bi-weekly basis.

You can set up your account via this link on our parish website: https://www.holycrossdurham.org/online-giving.

I realize that many of you are or might be impacted financially because of loss of income as our country deals with this pandemic. We have no idea how long we will not be celebrating Mass here at Holy Cross. Your generosity at this time is greatly appreciated. This really helps us keep our budget balanced. I want to thank you for what you do for Holy Cross. God bless you.

As we continue through this difficult time, our communications and social action teams are providing links to resources you can use to keep you informed of diocesan and community updates related to the pandemic, as well as prayers and reflections. Watch for updates on our parish blog on the Holy Cross website and via email messages from pastor@holycrossdurham.org.

Peace and all good to you,

Fr. Bart
