Lots of Smiles at Holy Cross’s 2018 Easter Egg Hunt

Annual event in memory of long-time parishioner Barbara Graham

About 20 Holy Cross children met the Easter Bunny and enjoyed games, egg hunting, yummy food and treats at this year’s Easter Egg Hunt, held on March 31.

The annual Barbara Graham Easter Egg Hunt was hosted by the Holy Cross Altar Society, with Carol Nixon leading the egg hunt. She had filled more than 325 plastic eggs that she brought to the event, along with food and prizes for the children.

In addition to hunting for the eggs, children played “pin the tail on the bunny’ and worked on crafts, said her sister Renee Nixon. And, like always, “We played a killer game of Musical Chairs,” she said, noting that there were two divisions of Musical Chairs, one for youth ages seven and older, and a calmer version for the younger children.

“Holy Cross has sponsored an Easter Egg Hunt for decades,” Renee Nixon said. The parish took a brief break when moving to its current church, “we had to bring it back,” she said.  The hunt is named after Barbara Graham, a long-time member of Holy Cross who passed away in 2008.

“Mrs. Graham loved to dye eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt,” Renee Nixon said. “Even after getting out of the hospital one year, she dyed over 10 dozen eggs, and during her last year of life, she dyed eggs and would make her husband, Cortland, deliver them. It was her favorite event. We had to name it after her.” Renee Nixon also took photos at the event, including those posted here.
