Ministries don't stop for the summer!

See how you can help

Stay involved with ministries at Holy Cross this summer.

Vacation Bible School

Imagine what it was like to live and work in what was once considered the center of the world ... the busy metropolis of Rome.

Volunteers are needed to recreate Paul and The Underground Church for our children's Vacation Bible School, to be held June 13-15 from 6:30-8:30 PM. Musicians, decorators, family leaders, games, arts and crafts are just a few of the ways you can join in on the magic of Vacation Bible School. Ready to recreate Rome? Contact Jeanetta Hopkins by email at to volunteer.

Youth Recognition Sunday | Submit Graduates' Info by June 4

Graduation time is here and that means it is time to celebrate our high school and college graduates. Attached is a form for submitting the information needed to recognize our graduates. While all of our students have achieved, the Graduation Recognition Mass is only for high school and college graduates completing their studies in December 2016 or May 2017. The firm deadline is June 4. Questions? Contact Jeanetta Hopkins at

Holy Cross at Families Moving Forward 2017

Holy Cross is one of the parishes in Durham helping with Families Moving Forward, a program that assists families in transition to permanent housing. Elizabeth Deshaies is our Holy Cross liaison for this vital program. Please all her at 919-791-9147 if your are able to assist or would like more information.

Volunteers are needed for:

  • June 5 and 6
  • August 21 and 22
  • November 27 and 28

The current need is for volunteers to help with childrcn's programming after each meal. This usually involves helping children (varied age range) meet individual social or scholastic goals, through activities and tools provided by Families Moving Forward.

Holy Cross Community Garden Ministry | Monthly Meetings begin June 10

Crops and flowers are filling out in the Holy Cross Community Garden, and the Garden Ministry's core group is eager to welcome additional volunteers. All are welcome – for an hour, an evening, an afternoon.

Learn about this ministry and get to know the ‘gardeners’ … and join the team at the Community Garden Ministry’s "Second Saturday" meetings, following the Saturday Vigil Mass (6:15-7:15 PM). The first meeting will be held June 10. The goal: To provide a chance for gardeners to meet and get to know each other, to share gardening tips and encouragement, and to help with planning for the future, to make sure we have enough manpower to keep this ministry going.
