Faith Formation at Holy Cross is recruiting a few good teachers for all levels of Faith Formation. If you feel called to help our parish's children and others to grow in their Catholic faith, please contact Jeanetta Hopkins, our parish's director of religious education, at 919-617-7497 or by email at faithformation@holycrossdurham.org. Or, stop by to chat with a Faith Formation representative in the gathering space, after Sunday Masses in the coming weeks.
Holy Cross is a parish community of faith, of action, and of hope. It is where the gospel is proclaimed and celebrated, where believers are formed and sent to renew the earth - where God's people meet Jesus in Word and sacrament, and come in touch with the source of the Church's life.
The Peace, Justice, and Human Development Commission provides ongoing stewardship opportunities so that parishioners can answer the call to use their talents and express their faith in concrete acts of charity and justice. This includes helping to stock Durham classrooms each fall, providing basic supplies that kids need for learning, or filling grocery bags to provide food for those receiving help from Cathoic Charities in Durham.
Read about these and other ministries that you can get involved with at Holy Cross and discern how you can help make a difference this year.
Holy Cross parishioners also help with local organizations, such as the following.
Holy Cross joins other volunteers and professional staff several times a year to help with Famiies Moving Forward. Together, they help provide families with children a stable, safe and loving environment while they are in the temporary crisis of homelessness. Thanks to the ongoing teamwork of loving volunteers and professional staff, FMF families become self-reliant members of the community who can then give back to others in need. Holy Cross parishioners have been helping as volunteers. Read here about this community ministry ... and register here if you would like to volunteer.
Funds raised through pledges secured by each person walking help support initiatives that are helping to stop hunger. Read about last year's Durham CROP Hunger Walk and save the date for the March 28, 2018 walk. It's a great community-building event for individuals and families, and a way to meet others committed to helping those in need. Watch for details early next year.
