Time to celebrate our youth, recognizing their honors and achievements

Happy June! With school wrapping up for the summer – and graduation ceremonies either coming up or just over – it’s time to celebrate the achievements of the young people of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

This year’s Youth Recognition Day will be held June 12, following the 10 AM Mass.

To prepare for that celebration, all Holy Cross families with children in school (or new graduates) are asked to submit their children’s honors and achievements from this past academic year, plus plans for continuing higher education or employment, so that we can celebrate with them as a parish family.

It’s easy to do. Just click here to download the form, then print and complete it, and bring it to church this weekend. Copies of the form will also be available at church this weekend, so you can also compete it after the Saturday or Sunday Masses at church. If you are not in town this weekend, please download and complete the form, then scan and send by email or drop it off at the Faith Formation Office at church by Tuesday, June 5.

Earlier this spring, Pope Francis had a special message for the youth of the global church, in this Jubilee Year of Mercy. Pope Francis asked the whole church, worldwide, to celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy for Young Boys and Girls, to encourage them “to be Merciful as the Father is Merciful …  to grow in a love which is courageous, generous and real."

He continued ... "With [Jesus] we can do great things; he will give us the joy of being his disciples, his witnesses. ... Commit yourselves to great ideals, to the most important things.” You can read his full message here.

Our celebration of our youth’s achievements is one sign of encouragement along this path.
